Hey everyone, hope Spring Break has been good to you! Just wanted to let you know what we have planned for the upcoming April 9th Pack meeting. Our local Boy Scout Troop will be setting up stations for each Den to rotate through, which will take-up the full meeting period. While the Dens are visiting stations, we will have computers set-up for our Den Leaders to enter their scout's progress in Scout Book. This is important because BSA is now requiring Scout Book to track / document the progress of each Scout. I've been informed that Scout Book will be tied to the ability of getting advancement patches. That said, this week's efforts to get caught-up is critical to our upcoming Promotional Bonfire in May.
The weekend of April 22 - April 24, 2016, our Pack will camp out in the beautiful Turkey Run Ridge Group Campground located in Prince William Forest Park. We have reserved three group campgrounds, which will accommodate a total of 90 people.
Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation (BALOO) is a one-day training event that gives parents and leaders the skills needed to plan and conduct pack outdoor activities. Sessions include the why and how of Cub Scout camping—planning, equipment, meal preparation, and campfire programs. In the afternoon, participants rotate among four round-robin sessions—fire safety, stoves, and lanterns; first aid and sanitation; nature hikes and games; and cooking. Our pack is required to have someone trained in this session and the more we have on this list, the better! Please email Dan Gardner if you are interested - dan (dot) gardner (at) mac (dot) com.
The Bear Den will be going to Maymont on April 28. We will observe Bobcat training at 2 and Aligator feeding in the Nature Center at 3. We will tour the Dooley mansion and learn about the Dooley family's place in Richmond history.
